Italpizza, an Italian company based in Modena specializing in the production of frozen pizzas, has acquired Spanish company Pizza Artesana Malgrat. Founded in 1986, Pizza Artesana produces frozen and fresh pizzas and is currently active mainly in the Horeca channel. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Italpizza’s acquisition aims to “intensify the internationalization process that will allow us to be directly present in countries with significant market growth margins,” says an official company statement. Specifically, demand in the Spanish market “is very high in the face of a mid- and low-level supply.” The challenge for Italpizza will be to bring Spanish consumers closer to high-quality-level products typical of Italian tradition.
“Italpizza has the necessary technological know-how, the result of decades of experience, to be called a ‘great pizzeria.’ It is no coincidence that our pizza has become the most popular among Italians,” says Cristian Pederzini, President and CEO of Italpizza. “The industrial plan we have set involves increasing the Spanish company’s distribution network to better spread our products, but also to transfer technology to improve the production of pizzas with specific characteristics for the Spanish market. This will allow us to consolidate the excellent results recently achieved by Pizza Artesana and to make strategic investments that could lead to doubling production capacity and employment levels in the future. Being directly present in Spain will also allow us to make our brand more recognizable by consumers by establishing a solid and lasting relationship with them.”
