President of the protection Consortium, Nicola Bertinelli says, “the sales trend in the period under consideration confirms the substantial ‘premium’ appetite of consumers, who since the pandemic continue to show loyalty to the values of our PDO product.”

In order to protect the quality of Parmigiano Reggiano PDO, the general assembly of Consortium member dairies addressed the issue of rules governing the production of similar or comparable cheeses. A ban was introduced on the production of other cheeses which are comparable with the Italian “King of Cheeses.”
