Dairy products (€107mn) and pasta (€92mn) also saw strong sales, underscoring Japan’s appetite for high-quality Italian produce.
EXPO 2025 OSAKA: A GLOBAL STAGE IN JAPAN FOR ITALIAN FOOD
With 28mn visitors expected, Expo 2025 Osaka is set to offer a major platform for promoting Italian food exports.
“Italy enjoys strong recognition in Japan, thanks to a shared emphasis on ingredient quality, seasonality, and culinary heritage,” says Ambassador Mario Vattani, Italy’s Commissioner General for Expo 2025 Osaka. “While our cuisines are distinct, both are rooted in tradition and health-conscious values. Expo 2025 will allow us to showcase these strengths on a global stage.”
Filiera Italia CEO Luigi Scordamaglia added: “With the resurgence of our agri-food exports to Japan, Italy’s market share is now approaching €2bn. This confirms Japan as a high-value market that views Italian food as a benchmark for quality and excellence.”
