The market is currently grappling with a number of critical issues, starting with rising costs for raw materials, energy, and packaging. But for companies in the sector, there are still many opportunities, especially on the sustainability front. “There is a need – says Franco Moro, President of the Bresaola della Valtellina PGI Consortium – to confront European policies and the renewed Farm to Fork strategy, in order to make a quality leap in terms of sustainable innovation in the supply chain. In the meantime, we are seeing impressive growth in domestic consumption, and exports are also recovering after the downturn in 2020. The sector is showing great resilience.”
