THE MOZZARELLA DI GIOIA DEL COLLE PDO CONSORTIUM IS BORN

Last year brought important news for the safeguarding of the typical fresh cheese from Southern Italy. In fact, the recognition of Mozzarella di Gioia del Colle PDO among European Geographical Indications took place.

Therefore, in May 2021 the dairy farms of Apulia established the Consortium for the Protection of Mozzarella di Gioia del Colle PDO. The goal is to enhance and promote the product, which contributes to confirming this staple of Italian cuisine as the symbol of the Italian gastronomic culture in the world.

Mozzarella di Gioia del Colle PDO is an excellent product that complies with very strict specifications. Only milk from cows of selected breeds is used in the production process. The cows’ diet is based on herbs and untreated cereals. Processing is exclusively artisanal with PDO-certified whey.

Some of the major market players have joined the initiative. Starting with Italian company Delizia, which last year launched the new Deliziosa brand in a 200g clump bag.
