Olio Toscano PGI and Culatello di Zibello PDO enter the Jefta agreement

Olio Toscano PGI and Culatello di Zibello PDO have been included, together with 19 other food products and 7 wines and spirits, in the list of 205 European Geographical Indications recognised by the Jefta Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and Japan – which came into force on 1st February 2019.

The Japanese Ministry of Agriculture has therefore published a list of 28 additional products that will be added to the ones that have already obtained protection in the country. The recognition by Japan will become final in three months: all the products on the list will be protected from counterfeiting.

Olio Toscano PGI and Culatello di Zibello PDO add to the other 46 Italian products already recognized within the Jefta agreement: 20 food products (including Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PDO, Mela Alto Adige PGI, Asiago PDO, Fontina PDO, Gorgonzola PDO, Grana Padano PDO, Parmigiano Reggiano PDO, Pecorino Romano PDO and Taleggio PDO) and 26 wines (including Chianti, Chianti Classico, Prosecco and Conegliano Valdobbiadene-Prosecco).
