Piadina Romagnola PGI is preparing to make a high-profile entrance into the German market through a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the international footprint of Italian agrifood excellence. Starting 9 December 2025, the iconic flatbread from Romagna will be available in 40 Feinkost specialty stores across 23 German cities, as part of a promotional campaign led by the Consortium for the Promotion and Protection of Piadina Romagnola PGI.
The rollout includes 1,840 promotional days, offering German consumers the opportunity to discover the product’s history, craftsmanship, and versatility. Protected by the PGI designation, Piadina Romagnola will be showcased in Feinkost stores—premium retailers known for high-quality foods and artisanal products distinguished by carefully selected ingredients.
The initiative is part of the three-year communication programme “Choose the European Friendship”, funded by the European Union to raise awareness of certified European food excellence, emphasising quality, traceability, and shared values.
“Bringing Piadina Romagnola PGI to Germany means sharing our identity and opening new opportunities for Made in Italy,” says Alfio Biagini, President of the Consortium. “It is the result of a long and complex journey that now enables us to be present in one of Europe’s most important markets.”
The German debut follows three years of effort, research, and market engagement, marking a key milestone in the Consortium’s internationalisation strategy. Beyond its commercial significance, the initiative aims to build a cultural bridge—connecting territories, traditions, and people through a celebrated symbol of Italian gastronomy.
