FSI (Fondo Strategico Italiano) has announced a €200 million investment in Casalasco Società Agricola Spa, partnering with its majority shareholder, Consorzio Casalasco del Pomodoro. The deal aims to establish a publicly listed European leader in the agri-food sector, leveraging Casalasco’s expertise in tomato preserves and its well-known brands, including Pomì, Gustodoro, and De Rica.

CASALASCO: A SCALABLE MODEL FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

Italy’s Casalasco operates a fully integrated agri-food supply chain, blending tradition with cutting-edge processing technologies. The company manages the entire production and transformation cycle, with a strong emphasis on environmental and social sustainability. With over 2,000 employees across five production facilities, it generates annual revenues exceeding €600 million.

The group specializes in tomatoes, legumes, and fresh basil, employing innovative agricultural practices to reduce environmental impact and enhance biodiversity, water conservation, and soil regeneration. Casalasco’s vertically integrated model aligns with the EU’s Farm to Fork strategy, a key pillar of the European Green Deal, ensuring a traceable and sustainable food supply chain.

IPO AND EXPANSION STRATEGY

FSI’s investment is designed to accelerate consolidation within the European agri-food sector, opening the door to further acquisitions and strategic partnerships. The group has set an ambitious €1.5 billion revenue target, reinforcing its position as a leading industry player.

SCALING GROWTH AND UNLOCKING VALUE

Casalasco CEO Costantino Vaia (pictured) described FSI’s backing as a “catalyst for growth”, enabling the company to expand operations and enhance supply chain efficiencies. “The investment marks the beginning of a new growth phase, aimed at scaling production capacity and maximizing long-term value creation,” he said.
