The certified production of Salamini Italiani alla Cacciatora PDO concluded 2023 on a positive trajectory, marking a 0.8% uptick, totaling 4,138,617 kg. In contrast to 2022’s negative production downturn compared to the preceding year, the 2023 results spotlight a robust recovery trend for this salami crafted exclusively from 100% Italian raw materials.

Within the Italian market, absorbing 70% of the certified production, 61% of the Salamini Italiani alla Cacciatora PDO found its way through the channels of organized large-scale retail. Encouraging figures persist for the pre-sliced tray-packaged variant, solidifying its upward trajectory with a noteworthy +6% surge compared to 2022.

EXPORTS AND GLOBAL INITIATIVES

Approximately 30% of the product finds its market abroad, with the European Union remaining the primary destination, especially in Germany, Belgium, and France.

To fortify the Salamini Italiani alla Cacciatora PDO’s international footprint, the Consortium for Protection and Promotion has immersed itself in diverse promotional endeavors for several years. Commencing with a triennial campaign in France (“D.E.L.I Meat: Delicious moments, European authentic taste”), predominantly involving upscale dining establishments.

Simultaneously, an ongoing promotional drive in Spain and Belgium (“A slice of quality: choose PDO & PGI deli meats from Europe”) targets key players in supermarkets, traditional trade, and fine dining establishments.

In the pipeline are forthcoming promotional initiatives in Germany, Switzerland, and the UK, in collaboration with other EU Consortia. Notably, promotional activities have recently recommenced in Hong Kong, named “Enjoy the authentic joy.”
