On Sept. 1, Scugnizza Pizzeria will open in Taipei, Taiwan, No. 13, Ln. 751, Kangning St., Xizhi Dist., New Taipei City. The novelty is the brainchild of Taiwanese entrepreneur David Huang, who has set himself the ambitious goal of revolutionizing the Taiwanese pizza market by offering local consumers a superior quality, healthy, and gourmet product that can stand out from all the offerings of local pizza operators.

The first pizza arrived in Taiwan 30 years ago, but it has always been considered a junk food, often made with poor quality raw materials. That’s why David Huang – a successful past in the semiconductor sector and now head of Sapori Italiani Foods Co., Ltd. – was thunderstruck at first sight by Pizza Scugnizza during one of his visits to Naples. Hence the decision to bring it back home for all Taiwanese to try.

David Huang aims to offer his customers a gourmet experience that stays true to healthy principles and a diet that respects proper caloric and salt intake, but, most importantly, offers the authentic flavors of Mediterranean cuisine.

DISCOVERING SCUGNIZZA PIZZERIA AND PIZZAS

Pizza Scugnizza is the result of a careful selection of raw materials, and of the ancient discipline underlying the art and know-how of pizza makers. The art of producing high quality pizza has been kept alive by the Morano family and partner Pasqualino Masi, Maestro Pizzaiolo, thanks to their factory located in the province of Salerno, a few kilometers from Naples.

Girolamo Morano founded Vera Pizza Napoli in 2015, with the commercial support of Pizza&Other, thanks to which he quickly developed international distribution. “Scugnizza is one of the brands I am most fond of and has always belonged to our company, to which we now accompany a wide range of gourmet pizzas, snacks, and other typical Neapolitan products. They are all designed to enhance the ancient Neapolitan art of pizza-making and its production techniques combined with the most advanced freezing technologies,” Morano says.

In the past two years, the group has grown thanks to investments in digitization and internationalization, which have enabled Vera Pizza Napoli to find trade partners in Germany, France, Belgium, Sweden, the U.S., Canada, and now Taiwan.
