Conad wins two awards for European Private Label Awards 2022

The Italian retailer group Conad has obtained important awards at the prestigious European Private Label Awards 2022, thanks to its Sapori&Dintorni and Sapori&Idee branded products.

Organized by ESM – European Supermarket Magazine, the European Private Label Awards have been rewarding since 2017 the most distinctive private label products in the European market, evaluated on the basis of innovation, presentation, and taste.

THE PRIVATE LABEL AWARDS 2022

This year Conad distinguished itself by triumphing in the “Best of the Best” ranking, winning first prize in the “Dairy Products” and “Meat and Fish” categories, and being a finalist in five of the 17 categories considered.

Sapori&Idee Conad’s Royal Crab Ravioli won the “Taste Excellence Award” thanks to its premium taste, carefully selected ingredients, and ease of preparation. The product also came in second place in the “Meat and Fish” category, receiving the highest score for its taste.

PACKAGING AWARD

Conad won also the “Packaging Excellence Award” for two products from the Sapori&Idee premium line: Panettone basso with caramel gold chocolate and Panettone basso with candied black cherry and chocolate drops, which also came second in the “Pastries and Snacks” category. The jury appreciated the premium presentation, clear product description, and overall brand positioning of the Sapori&Idee range.

CHEESE, MEAT & FISH

The Italian retailer won first place in the “Dairy Products” category with its range of Burger Finette Conad in the three available variants: Gorgonzola, Pecorino, and Scamorza. This achievement was due to a range of flavors that aim to enhance the tastes of Italy by following the growing trend of gourmet burgers. Conad’s Sapori&Idee Salted Butter was also a finalist in the same category.

Conad also triumphed in the “Meat and Fish” ranking with the new Sapori&Dintorni line of beef burgers, in a 180g gourmet format, made with the finest meats typical of Italian tradition and certified by the Consortium of the Vitellone Bianco dell’Appennino Centrale PGI (White Calf of the Central Apennines PGI): Chianina, Marchigiana, and Romagnola.

CONAD PRIVATE LABELS

Conad branded products have greatly contributed to the growth of the brand in 2021. The supermarket chain’s private label has reached a 31% share of the total FMCG packaged goods in Italy (supermarket channel) with a turnover of 4.8 billion euros, growing +5.8% in value compared to 2020.

Sapori&Dintorni and Sapori&Idee lines are the premium range of Conad’s private label. The former consists of a wide selection of products made with local raw materials and traditional methods of processing and preparation, carefully selected for their quality and link with the territory. The latter conveys a new idea of taste under the banner of experimentation, using gourmet raw materials alongside innovative proposals and unusual combinations.
