In the latest Barilla TV commercials about Pasta Integrale (whole wheat pasta), Pasta ai 5 Cereali (5 cereals pasta), Salsa Pronta (tomato ready sauce) and Ragù Classico (classic meat sauce) Roger Federer enters once again a new field of play for him: the kitchen. After his first meeting with chef Davide Oldani and a trip to New York to share with friends the pleasure of a Pasta with Pesto, four new lessons are ready to get better and better in the kitchen – between tennis gestures and athletic movements – bringing his personal touch to Italian cuisine and to the most symbolic dishes of the Mediterranean diet. In these lessons, the world famous Swiss tennis player will use two recipes for ready-made sauces and other two for pasta, all of which supplied by chef Oldani, to try to make something classic with a touch of creativity. The commercials, each one lasting 15 seconds, were created by JWT agency and have been broadcast since yesterday in Italy and in the foreign countries where Barilla operates.
Four Master Lessons between tradition and creativity
The creative idea is that a plate of pasta is much more than a simple meal, as it embodies the universe of values, tradition, and well-being of the Mediterranean diet. In fact, each commercial is associated with a lesson, or rather a Master Lesson, and a keyword. In ‘La semplicità’ (simplicity) the reference is to the most famous pasta sauce, the tomato sauce, which Barilla offers in its simplest and most genuine version: Salsa Pronta with Italian tomatoes and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. The second Master Lesson is entitled ‘Il rispetto’ (respect) and is dedicated to Ragù di carne alla Bolognese (Bologna meat sauce), a recipe that symbolizes the typical Italian Sunday lunch which Barilla proposes in a traditional version: long cooking, traditional soffritto and meat from Italian farms. Roger Federer combines it with Emiliane Barilla, a pinch of rosemary, and creativity. In the third Master Lesson, the protagonist is Pasta ai 5 Cereali, a new product line born in the name of well being and taste, that is gaining increasing success among consumers. The recipe prepared by Roger Federer comes from an idea of Davide Oldani and contains all the freshness and warmth of summer: the 5 Cereals pennette meet a topping based on orange juice, almonds, peas, and courgettes, perfect to enhance the rich taste of pasta. The last lesson is ‘Sorprendi’ (surprise), and for Federer it represents the completion of a path of growth in the kitchen: a revisitation of the classic Cacio & Pepe (cheese & pepper, a typical Roman recipe), combined with whole wheat Barilla spaghetti with the master touch of grated lemon peel, which makes it fresher and more harmonious.
