Farmo Launches “Farmo Five” in Chicago

Italian health-food company Farmo has officially launched production of gluten-free Mac & Cheese at its newly inaugurated “Farmo Five” manufacturing site in Elgin, Illinois, marking a significant step in its US expansion strategy.

The facility—Farmo’s first in North America—is designed to meet rising demand for gluten-free products in the region. It will produce three varieties of Mac & Cheese tailored specifically for US consumers: Cheddar, Deluxe, and Vegan. The products are made using Wisconsin-sourced cheddar, a nod to the state’s reputation as a hub for dairy excellence, and formulated entirely with US-grown ingredients.

FARMO: A STRATEGIC EXPANSION

Founded in Italy and operating in the United States since 2012 through its Chicago-based subsidiary Farmo USA Inc., the company specializes in health-oriented products made from cereals and legumes. The launch of local production is intended to reduce supply chain costs, shorten delivery timelines, and offer US retailers faster, more reliable access to Farmo’s product portfolio.

This is a strategic milestone,” the company said in a statement, “enabling us to serve the US market with locally produced, high-quality gluten-free offerings.” The Farmo Five plant is outfitted with advanced manufacturing lines designed to ensure high production standards, full supply chain traceability, and efficient nationwide distribution. It is the first phase of a broader industrial investment plan in the US.

US MARKET OUTLOOK

The North American gluten-free market has tripled in volume over the past three years, with strong double-digit growth projected through 2028. In this context, Farmo is positioning itself as a premium, agile player capable of delivering high-value-added products at scale.

The company has previously been recognized among the US’s “fastest growing companies,” thanks to its focus on quality, innovation, and responsiveness to evolving consumer preferences.
