Eurovo Announces Acquisition of Hulstaert & Cie

Eurovo, one of Europe’s leading egg producers, has acquired Belgian firm Hulstaert & Cie, a specialist in egg shelling and processed egg products. With an annual output of 10,000 tonnes, Hulstaert operates under the Fleggs brand, supplying the food service and manufacturing sectors across six countries, including Belgium, Germany, and France.

The deal strengthens Eurovo’s European presence. Founded over 70 years ago by the Lionello family—who retain full ownership—Eurovo now runs 20 production sites across Italy, France, Spain, Poland, and Romania. The move into Belgium is part of a broader push to expand in Northern Europe, enhancing production capacity and market reach.

With €1.28bn in revenue in 2023, a workforce of over 2,000, and a client base spanning more than 40 countries, Eurovo is among Europe’s largest players in the egg industry. It operates across the agricultural and industrial supply chains, covering everything from fresh eggs to processed derivatives and logistics.

Eurovo’s portfolio straddles both consumer and business markets. Its retail brands include Le Naturelle, ProUp, and Lolli, while its B2B division, focused on food service, operates under Eurovo Service and Maia Professional.

With this acquisition, Eurovo reinforces the European expansion strategy we began in the early 2000s,” says Federico Lionello, the group’s commercial and marketing director. “We are proud to continue the legacy of our founders, making our family name a hallmark of Italian tradition and innovation worldwide.”
