The Italian retailer earns top honors at the 2026 European Private Label Awards, highlighting innovation and excellence across multiple categories

The European Private-Label Awards 2026 have officially recognized excellence in store brand innovation, with Italian retail cooperative Conad emerging as one of this year’s standout performers.

Organized by European Supermarket Magazine (ESM), the awards celebrate achievements in private-label development across Europe, highlighting advancements in innovation, packaging, taste, and sustainability. The competition drew entries from leading manufacturers and retailers across the continent, reflecting the sector’s growing diversity and dynamism.

Conad distinguished itself as a finalist in seven categories and ultimately secured three category wins in Beverages (Non-Alcoholic) with Acqua Tonica Premium Sapori&Idee, Confectionery with Crema 100% Mandorle Piacersi, and Sauces and Condiments with Sugo Cacio e Pepe Sapori&Idee. The achievement underscores the retailer’s continued investment in high-quality private label offerings and its ability to compete at a European level. In addition to its category victories, Conad received three “Highly Commended” recognitions, further reinforcing its strong presence in the competition.

The European Private-Label Awards aim to identify the most impactful and innovative store brands available in Europe’s supermarkets. The competition is open to both retailers and suppliers operating within the European grocery sector.

This year’s edition featured 17 award categories, with each entry also considered for four overarching cross-category awards, further elevating the prestige and competitiveness of the programme. Conad’s success at the 2026 awards highlights the strength of its private-label strategy and the broader momentum within the European retail sector, where innovation and quality continue to redefine consumer expectations.
