In the period spanning from July 10 to August 6, 2023, the French supermarket chain E. Kantar Worldpanel’s data underscores E. Leclerc’s dominance, with the company commanding nearly a quarter of France’s food consumption by volume during the same period, securing an overall market share of 24.2%. In an era where manufacturers and select distributors grapple with dwindling volume sales due to inflationary pressures, and amid concerns of a looming ‘consumption downturn,’ E. Leclerc’s acquisition of additional volumes is a commendable feat.

Meanwhile, the German discount giants, Lidl and Aldi, saw their market shares dip by -0.3% and -0.2%, respectively.
