Increasing the photovoltaic plants, reaching 100% of renewable energy using more recycled plastic for the primary packaging, and certifying the production through SA8000. These are the goals that Bibite Polara has set for the next years. In order to achieve these results, the 70-years old Sicilian company specializing in the production of soft drinks with artisanal methods and cutting-edge technology has issued a 1.5 million euro minibond plan, with a duration of seven years, which has already been purchased by the Italian bank UniCredit.
THE GOALS
“We have always paid particular attention to the environment and the sustainability of our production,” says Carmelo Polara, at the helm of the company together with his sons. “For some time now we have built a large photovoltaic system to use mostly renewable sources. An investment that we want to strengthen to reach 100% renewable energy, together with the use of a greater amount of recycled plastic. Respect for the environment is important for the future of the world and we also want to do our part, combining our eco-sustainable choices to the high quality that has always distinguished our soft drinks”.
INVESTING IN INNOVATION
This choice is closely linked to the production of Polara soft drinks, especially the organic line with PGI/PDO ingredients and 100% Sicilian citrus fruits from organic farming.
UniCredit fully supports the project of Bibite Polara. Salvatore Malandrino, head of Sicily Region of UniCredit Italy, says, “UniCredit is always in the forefront to support the sustainable growth of enterprises. Thanks to an alternative method of financing such as minibonds, this intervention allows us to support the investment and innovation projects of Bibite Polara”.
