Baci Perugina announced the collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana as a celebration of Italian excellence. The new praline, called Dolce Vita, has been created by master chocolatiers working with Dolce & Gabbana. Perugina describes the result as a soft gianduia heart, with fresh lemon-flavored grains, and the crunchy whole hazelnut, all wrapped in sublime white chocolate with hints of vanilla. Dolce Vita is a “journey into the codes, scents, and colors of the Italian soul”.
‘Baci’ means kiss in ‘Italian’ and each chocolate contains a love note. Just like the classic Baci chocolates, each one from the Dolce Vita line will come with a phrase. What’s different with this limited edition are 35 phrases by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
Italianfood.net asked Baci Perugina what this collaboration means for the US market, “The United States is an extremely important market for Baci Perugina and the partnership of excellence with Dolce & Gabbana represents an important marriage of values and a great opportunity for authentic Made in Italy and for the brand”. Baci Perugina added, “The American consumer, who has always been attentive and receptive to Italianness, represents an elective target for this type of initiative which will be subject to selective distribution at online and offline premium retailers.”
Baci Perugina dates back to 1922. Today, the Italian chocolate company is owned by the Nestlé Group. This isn’t the first time the Italian fashion house has partnered with famous Italian food companies. Dolce & Gabbana has partnered with famed pasta maker Pastificio Di Martino and the renowned Sicilian bakery Fiasconaro.
