After two surveys – among exhibiting companies and domestic and foreign buyers – Fiere di Parma and Federalimentare have set the dates for Cibus 2021, which will be held from Tuesday 31 August to Friday 3 September. An assessment of the vaccination process underway in Italy as well as the organisation of airways for foreign buyers also contributed to the decision.
The 20th edition of Cibus will be also the fair for the restart of the Italian food industry, and the first showcase of the year for Italy’s F&B. All the new products and categories that will drive the recovery of domestic consumption and exports will be on show: from cured meats to cheeses, from pasta to tomatoes, from olive oil to bakery products, to beverages, groceries, frozen foods and local products.

ITALIAN FOOD EXPORTS RESTARTING
The reopening of Cibus (the 2020 edition was cancelled due to coronavirus) coincides with a recovery in Italian food exports. According to Istat data, processed by Federalimentare, the 2020 substantial stability (+0.1% in the first 10 months of 2020), should evolve into significant growth in the first half of 2021. This bodes well for a conspicuous influx of international buyers; in fact, a record budget has been allocated to encourage incoming at Cibus 2021.
CIBUS 2021 BY THE NUMBERS
About three thousand Italian exhibitors are expected at Cibus 2021 along with all the players in the agri-food supply chain. The exhibition will also be an opportunity to analyse the major changes accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic, both in production and consumption. The conferences will be organised within Cibus Forum unique setting.
