Red preserves: Mangia bridges Italy-USA culture

Mangia Inc., the producer, exporter and importer of Carmelina ‘e…San Marzano Italian tomatoes and authentic Italian prepared sauces, as well as Carmelina brands Italian beans, has created a unique bridge merging the traditional Italian culture of growing clean, high quality products with the modern needs of the North American and global markets.

Founded 25 years ago, headquartered in Irvine, California, and with offices in Naples, Mangia produces, exports and imports directly from Italy using artisan, fresh-pack preservation methods.

A GLOBAL NETWORK

The company’s uniqueness comes from being the producer, exporter and importer, managing the entire supply chain process from field to market. Mangia oversees six production facilities in Italy where it follows the same strict specifications from seed and variety, to pH, Bostwick, brix, etc. to ensure product consistency and quality.

The group also operates its own labeling and packaging facilities with six North American forwarding warehouses that serve their clients in an efficient and timely manner.

Mangia, Inc.
The Line of Carmelina ‘e…San Marzano Italian Tomatoes is the flagship product of Mangia, Inc.

The company offers its clients a complete line of conventional and organic tomato products in cans, pouches, and industrial bulk drums, available as branded or private label, and utilizing a global trade division for clients worldwide.

WHEN QUALITY PAYS

As an active member of ANICAV (Italy’s Association of Vegetable Food Preserves), Mangia takes pride in ensuring the best quality for its Carmelina ‘e… San Marzano Italian tomatoes and Carmelina brands Italian beans. “The Carmelina Difference: Quality Doesn’t Cost…it Pays,” reads the claim in the company’s video campaign showing the importance of sourcing an excellent product to get the most value in flavor and yield. Grown in nutrient-rich, volcanic soil of the Italian tomato heartland, the company’s authentic Italian tomatoes and the entire line of legumes and sauces are processed without the need or use of chemical preservatives or additives.

The tomatoes are vine-ripened to maturity, harvested only at their peak, and travel from field to factory in less than a few hours to be packed in a simple tomato puree. Similarly, the beans are all-natural, preserved “al dente” to keep their shape and firmness, and are free from calcium chloride, citric acid, and EDTA.
