Italy on a strong US footing at Fancy Food Shows

Under the slogan “The Extraordinary Italian Taste”, about 75 Italian exhibitors participated in the Winter Fancy Food Show 2020 in San Francisco to present the best pasta, cheese, olive oil, salami and other quality authentic products to buyers from the retail and foodservice channels

Authenticity and sustainability were among the highlights of the products presented at the Italian pavilion organized by Universal Marketing, the exclusive Italian agent for the Specialty Food Association, as part of a broader promotion strategy spearheaded by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA – ICE).

The renewed energy of the Italian presence in the largest specialty food shows of the United States is an indicator of the resilience of the Italian food industry at a time of economic uncertainty due to the tariffs imposed by the US administration as part of a long US-EU dispute over subsidies to plane manufacturers Airbus and Boeing.

Show cookings, a brand new Taste it Live section including a special section for spirits paired with cheese and salami, as well as an exclusive presence in the Buyers Lounge Level Up, were the heart of the action where Italy led the way also thanks to the involvement of renowned chefs and culinary experts that interacted with American visitors.

ITALIAN FOOD AWARDS UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT

From San Francisco to New York. The Italian Food Awards travel this year from the West to the East coast of the United States to highlight quality and innovation in Italian food as part of a record Italian participation as Country Partner of both editions of the Fancy Food Shows, the largest US specialty trade event.

In an exclusive video on the sidelines of the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, Phil Kafarakis, the president of the Specialty Food Association that organizes the shows, explained the strategy and the opportunities behind the strong presence of Italian companies.

Organized by ItalianFood.net, the international project of media group Food, in partnership with Universal Marketing, the exclusive agent for Italy of the SFA, and in collaboration with the Specialty Food Association, the Italian Food Awards are now in their fourth consecutive year and have drawn growing attention from US retailers, importers and distributors.
