Italian high-end pasta maker De Cecco is gearing up for further growth in the global retail industry. After building a decades-long expertise in the foodservice channel, the Abruzzo based company aims to enlarge its footprint in retail around the globe, leveraging its ability to offer the highest quality standards year after year. As part of a strategy to develop turnover and assortment, during the current year De Cecco is to keep on focusing on organic products by offering an additional 14 items to reach a total of 71 stock keeping units (including three bakery items). Our approach to organic will not be limited to increasing margins, but also and especially volumes, says Luciano Berardi, Sales Director at De Cecco. There’s no real global brand with a historic premium positioning and a comprehensive organic assortment like us. We don’t want to propose a restrictive organic offer, but good and well-made products, Berardi said. The company’s goal is to hold a structural presence in the retail channel while preserving its high-end production.
The organic line
From a centuries-old tradition and search of selected ingredients comes De Cecco’s organic range Linea Bio, made with exclusively natural techniques combining genuine quality with taste. The range is comprised of 9 durum wheat pasta and 5 egg pasta shapes, remilled durum wheat semolina, 2 extra virgin olive oil, tomato puree, and 2 ready sauces (with Basil and Arrabbiata). The products are made with raw materials grown in accordance with EU organic farming standards, in respect of the environment and without the use of chemical fertilizers and synthetic chemical pesticides. Linea Bio products, with no GMO seeds, undergo strict controls and tests under EU-wide regulation. The changed line features a new elegant pack, that matches the new product, and a dedicated size of 250 gr for Minestrine di Semola and Egg Pastina.
