Igor Gorgonzola, the Italian company leader in the production of PDO Gorgonzola cheese, has acquired the historic brands of Santi Spa that were auctioned off after the 2014 October failure. The Leonardi family, sole owner of Igor Group, has carried out this important operation to bring back to the market a historical brand for the Gorgonzola cheese sector. The object of the acquisition is a set of brands, led by the famous Quattrorose. The ‘new’ Santi branded Gorgonzola will be made with the same high quality milk, recipe, and artisanal production process that used to characterize Santi Spa says Fabio Leonardi, CEO of Igor Group.
The history of Gorgonzola
The premium Gorgonzola will be produced within the dairies belonging to Igor group: Pal, located in Prato Sesia at the foot of Monte Rosa, and Clin in Cameriano. This is an important acquisition – adds Fabio Leonardi – strongly desired by me and my family. We are very happy to bring back the brands of a company that has made the history of Gorgonzola. It was in fact founded in 1898 and settled in Novara in 1930, where it had grown becoming a historical brand on national and European markets.
