The Prosciutto di Parma PDO Consortium is set to renew its participation at the upcoming Summer Fancy Food Show, taking place in New York at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from June 28 to 30. As a premier hub for the global food&beverage industry, the event represents a strategic showcase for promoting the authentic PDO product to international markets.

Navigating Market Challenges

This year, the Consortium arrives in the U.S. amid a complex economic landscape. Alessandro Utini, President of the Prosciutto di Parma PDO Consortium, acknowledged the difficulties: “The introduction of tariffs by the American administration has inevitably impacted trade, leading to an 8% contraction in sales during 2025—a trend that persisted into the first half of the current year.” Despite these obstacles, the United States remains the leading foreign destination for the product and a critical commercial partner.

Focus on future resilience

The current climate is marked by significant uncertainty, compounded by the devaluation of the dollar against the euro, which has intensified the impact of pricing pressures. “In this context, our presence in New York is more crucial than ever,” Utini added. “Beyond highlighting the quality and tradition of our product, this is a vital opportunity to engage with stakeholders, aiming to preserve and further strengthen a long-standing commercial relationship.”

Reflecting on the trade data, 2025 saw exports generate 315 million euros in revenue, with nearly 2.5 million hams exported—accounting for 37% of total production. Specifically, the U.S. received approximately 730,000 units, marking a decrease of 70,000 units due to the introduction of trade barriers. Nevertheless, the total export value to the U.S. still approached 100 million euros, underscoring the enduring demand for this Italian excellence.

The Consortium invites industry professionals to visit their booth at the Padiglione Italia (Stand 2713) to discuss future opportunities and the ongoing commitment to authenticity.
