Fattorie Garofalo, the world’s largest producer of buffalo dairy products and a leading supplier of Mozzarella di Bufala Campana PDO, will unveil its consumer brand in Germany at Anuga 2025, the international food fair taking place in Cologne, Germany, on 4–8 October.
The Campania-based group, which has spent more than 20 years as a major private-label supplier to German retailers, is now moving to market its products under the “Fattorie Garofalo” name on a broader scale. Until now, the brand has been present mainly in Italy and in select premium outlets in Germany.
Germany is already the company’s largest export market, with 1,700 tonnes of buffalo dairy shipped each year. The shift to branded sales marks a strategic turning point for the group, reflecting both its growth ambitions and the appetite of German consumers for Italian dairy. Mozzarella di Bufala Campana PDO has achieved 60 per cent penetration in the country, underlining Germany’s role as one of Europe’s most lucrative and discerning cheese markets.
At Anuga, Fattorie Garofalo will showcase its flagship Mozzarella di Bufala alongside Burrata, Ricotta, and its newest innovation, 100 per cent Buffalo Stracciatella. It will also introduce a frozen range aimed at markets requiring a longer shelf life.
Founded more than 60 years ago, the company runs a fully integrated supply chain, managing 12,500 Mediterranean buffaloes and processing 38 million litres of milk annually into 10m kg of cheese distributed across more than 40 countries. It has pledged to achieve full energy self-sufficiency by 2025.
The move into branded exports, the company said, is intended to reinforce its position as an ambassador of Italian food abroad while supporting the global recognition of Mozzarella di Bufala Campana PDO as one of Italy’s most valuable agri-food products.
