Through a competitive auction at the Court of Brescia, Italpizza, an Italian company based in Modena specializing in the production of frozen pizzas, has purchased the business unit of competitor Mantua Surgelati. Founded in 1970, the latter has five production plants with a total area of 40,000 square meters that includes a cold storage room for a capacity of 8/10,000 pallets and seven lines with different technologies. The production capacity is about 240 million pizzas per year. It employs about 450 people and has reached a turnover of more than 100 million in 2021. The export share exceeds 50 percent, with a predominance of the German market.
“This operation,” says Andrea Bondioli, Italpizza’s General manager, “required a total investment of more than 60 million euros, and will be financed through a dedicated credit line already approved by our historical partner lenders.”
Cristian Pederzini, founder and President of Italpizza, says, “thanks to the integration, our group will comprise eight production plants and two warehouses, with a total of 15 production lines complete with all the technologies to supply mass-market retail and a production capacity of about 435 million pizzas per year. We will employ more than 1,600 people at the various sites and achieve a post-integration turnover of about 350 million euros, more than 60 percent of which will be export-oriented.”
