Italian Wine Exports to China Shows Signs of Recovery

In 2024, Italy solidified its status as the fourth-largest supplier of wine to China, with exports reaching €97 million and capturing a 6.6% market share. Despite navigating a complex and dynamic landscape, the first quarter of 2025 has already seen wine exports of €24 million, reflecting a 2.1% increase compared to last year.

The Italian Trade Agency spearheaded Italy’s participation in the third edition of Wine to Asia in Shenzhen, coordinating a delegation of 50 wineries from across the country, making Italy the most represented nation at the event.

Over 30 masterclasses were conducted during the fair, including a notable session titled “European Quality Wine: Taste the Difference,” led by esteemed journalist and wine expert Filippo Bartolotta. For the first time, the Italian pavilion also featured thematic areas dedicated to other Italian products, such as extra virgin olive oil and Grana Padano PDO, in collaboration with the SOL event, thereby promoting the synergy of Italy’s gastronomic excellence.

This enhanced presence at Wine to Asia aligns with a marked recovery in the local wine market, positioning the event as a strategic platform to elevate the profile of Italian food and wine and to seize new business opportunities for premium Italian products.
