Campari Group has nominated Simon Hunt (pictured) as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership transition for the Italian spirits company. Hunt, an industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, is set to take the helm following a thorough evaluation process conducted by the board of directors. Hunt will succeed the ad interim co-CEOs, Paolo Marchesini and Fabio Di Fede, who have been overseeing the company’s operations since the previous CEO’s departure.
The official appointment is scheduled for January 15, 2025, during an ad hoc general meeting, by Dutch corporate governance regulations. With a background in the premium spirits sector, Hunt has held prominent positions at leading companies, including a notable tenure as chief executive officer at William Grant & Sons. His experience encompasses strategic roles in both established and emerging markets, particularly in the US, where he has successfully driven brand growth and operational performance. Campari Group, known for its diverse range of premium brands, is positioned to leverage Hunt’s expertise to enhance its market presence and navigate future challenges.
Luca Garavoglia, chairman of Campari Group, expressed confidence in Hunt’s ability to lead the company through its next phase of growth. “His proven and extensive industry experience in building and scaling premium and luxury brands globally will be instrumental,” he said. Garavoglia also acknowledged the contributions of Marchesini and Di Fede during the interim period, highlighting their efforts in ensuring a smooth governance transition.
Hunt’s career trajectory reflects a deep understanding of the spirits market, having previously worked with industry giants such as Diageo and Pernod Ricard. Most recently, he served as CEO of Catalyst Spirits, a global incubator for premium brands, where he focused on strategic initiatives and innovation. Hunt added: “I am honored and excited to take on this extraordinary opportunity and I look forward to working with Campari Group’s talented leadership team and organization to continue to build on the company’s heritage and success built over the past decades and to take Campari Group’s potential and growth ambition to its next level.”
