Italy’s confectionery company Sperlari enters Hy Vee’s shelves with its products. The goal is to delight American consumers with its range of Italian candies. Crafted using a traditional recipe and individually hand-wrapped, these candies embody the essence of Sperlari’s dedication to artisanal quality.
Since 1836, Sperlari has been perfecting its sweet creations in Cremona (Lombardy), blending classic methods with a touch of modern elegance. The company is now a leader in the Italian confectionery market and a symbol of made in Italy throughout the world. In 2020 Sperlari opened a U.S. branch, introducing its Cremonelli line—chocolate pralines filled with nuts, nougat, and more, tailored to the tastes of American consumers. This move is part of a broader export strategy, which also targets Asia, centered around flagship products like Galatine.
In 2021, Sperlari entered the Register of Historic Trademarks of National Interest established by Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development. The register also includes the Galatine brand – a famous milk candy invented in Italy in 1956 and produced with 100% Italian milk in the Sperlari plant in Cremona – and Saila’s – a company founded in 1937 which nowadays produces 100% Italian licorice and mint in Abruzzo.
