Bolton Group is one of Italy’s largest multinational companies, employing more than 11,000 people and selling over 60 brands in 150 countries. Bolton Group products are household names for millions of consumers across the world. In Britain, Filippo Berio UK distributes the company’s iconic Rio Mare canned tuna brand. Last week in Milan, the Italian olive oil company Filippo Berio received Bolton Group’s award for “The distributor with the highest distribution and market share increase in 2023.”

The Filippo Berio team said it was “delighted to have been recognized for its hard work and success on behalf of a truly world-beating brand. Our 2023 activities included highly successful POS executions at Costco Wholesale, Asda, Morrisons, Tesco, Ocado Retail Ltd, and, notably, activations and sampling with EH Booths. EH Booths in-store sampling delivered sales increases of +244% for Rio Mare Tuna in Olive Oil, and + 65% for the whole Rio Mare brand. A 20% uplift of the total Tinned Fish category was recorded.”

As a result of Filippo Berio’s work, including the securing of distribution in Asda, Morrisons, Tesco, Ocado, EH Booth, and others, Rio Mare is now the UK’s No. 1 brand of Tinned Tuna in Olive Oil with 20.8% market share.
