For the first time, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) is attending the ongoing COP28 climate summit in Dubai through the event “Sustainab-ITALY: Italian Proposals for a Greener Future.” In collaboration with the Italian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates and the Consulate General of Italy in Dubai, this initiative seeks to spotlight Italy’s industrial prowess in the domains of sustainable technologies and innovation.

The event comes on the heels of Italy’s noteworthy global export performance in 2022, where the nation exported ecological technologies totaling 65.5 billion euros – an impressive annual sales surge of +12.7%. Notably, in the initial seven months of 2023, exports in this category have continued their upward trajectory, reaching a substantial 40.5 billion euros (+7.6% compared to the same period in 2022).
Lorenzo Galanti, the Director General of the Italian Trade Agency, underscores Italy’s role as a European leader in the circular economy. He also emphasizes “Italy’s substantial investment of over two billion euros in developing efficient strategies within the renewable energy sector and implementing environmentally-friendly infrastructures for waste management and collection.”
