Amadori acquires the Lenti ham factory

Amadori, an Italian leading company specializing in the processing of poultry meat, and the Lenti family have concluded an operation for the transfer to the Amadori Group of 100% of Rugger Spa, a ham factory in Santena (To) specializing in meat cooking and owner of the historic Lenti brand.

Rugger was founded in 1935 by the Lenti family and, also thanks to the leadership of Ruggero Lenti – recently appointed president of Assica, the association of Italian meat industries – is today one of the flagships of Italy’s production of cooked, roasted, pre-sliced hams, and meat-based specialties. In 2020, Rugger achieved a turnover of 43.9 million euros, with an export share of 2% thanks to a selection of products in Germany, France, the UK, Denmark, Greece, Austria, and Switzerland.

THE ACQUISITION

With the acquisition by the Amadori Group – explains Ruggero Lenti, CEO of Ruggerour family gives Rugger a great opportunity to accelerate and strengthen the growth process started with the possibility of increasing the distribution of Lenti products throughout the country. All this is based on the development of important market synergies with a group such as Amadori that can already count on a dedicated feed mill and a breeding park of 80 sites (10 of which are owned) for a total surface of approximately 250,000 square meters”.

The acquisition of Rugger is part of an ambitious plan launched by Amadori for growth in the high-end cured meats sector. It is itself part of the maxi investment plan that includes an investment of 500 million euros over five years – in line with the company’s mission focused on white, pink, and green proteins thanks to an all-Italian, integrated, and sustainable production chain.

The decision to acquire Lenti – explains Francesco Berti, CEO of the Amadori Groupis an important step in the path of diversification and growth that will see us committed in the coming years. Bringing the know-how of Amadori in other market areas such as pork meat and cured meats, and focusing on the high-end product range, is a choice fully consistent with our corporate mission towards a supply chain that we aim to make national, integrated, and increasingly sustainable”.
