Asiago PDO exports achieved excellent results in the first six months of 2021. The increase in volumes was +16.7%, and June 2021 will certainly be remembered as the record month for exports of the Italian dairy specialty from Veneto and Trentino, thanks to an increase in sales of +41%. Switzerland, Germany, the USA, Canada, and Mexico are some of the countries in which the increase in Asiago PDO exports has been higher in the last six months.
ASIAGO PDO BY THE NUMBERS
In Europe, Switzerland is still the main market with a significant increase in sales of +29%, while Germany (+13.6%) consolidates its important role as the second European market. In the USA sales increased by almost +31%, and by +73% in Canada. In Mexico, thanks to the denomination’s protection initiatives and promotional program, sales growth from January to June 2021 was +83% in volume compared to the same period in 2020.
In the coming months, the Consortium aims to consolidate the presence of the product in South America and in the Far East. “For the first time, we are launching an ambitious growth project that involves not only members but also the main exporters” – says the Consortium director Flavio Innocenzi. “Today, the benefits of our commitment to the opening of new markets, the registrations of intellectual property rights, and the protection and use of European promotional tools make it possible to guarantee great development opportunities”.
The Asiago PDO Consortium is also preparing to open the season of in-person promotional activities abroad with the participation in Anuga 2021, one of the most important international trade shows in the food sector, scheduled in Cologne (Germany) from October 9 to 13. That will be the occasion to present to international players the high quality of Asiago PDO Fresco and Asiago PDO Stagionato.
