Vinitaly, one of the largest international trade fairs for wine, has been postponed to mid-June as Italy battles to contain an outbreak of the new coronavirus. The fair was due to start April 19 in the Italian city of Verona, at Veronafiere premises.
Veronafiere, the group that organizes Vinitaly, said in an official statement yesterday that it was rescheduling the fair to June 14-17 to avoid difficulties in its promotional activities.
FOODEX JAPAN 2020 CANCELED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS
On the other hand the organizers of Foodex Japan 2020, scheduled for March 10-13, have published a note announcing the cancellation of the international trade show. Previously, they had tried to ‘save’ the event from the coronavirus crisis by introducing a series of preventive measures.
These included the installation of disinfectant dispensers at the entrances and in the exhibition areas. At the entrances, there would have been temperature controls on each visitor, following a medical interview during registration. That was not enough. It was also not even possible to postpone Foodex in June or July, as the 2020 Olympic games should be held in Japan the same period.
