The authenticity of Asiago PDO on display in the USA and Australia

The Consortium for the protection of Asiago PDO cheese is strengthening its promotional activities abroad. From 18 to 24 November, on the occasion of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, it will focus on the link between this typical dairy product and its territory of origin – Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige regions – in two main export markets: USA and Australia.

ASIAGO PDO CONSORTIUM BRINGING AUTHENTICITY IN THE USA

The Consortium has chosen to react to the recent introduction of duties that are severely penalizing the exports of Asiago PDO in the United States – the first outlet market of this specialty cheese. For this reason, on November 20 in New York it will be the protagonist of #Istandwithmadeinitaly, an event organized together with the main Consortia for the protection of the Italian dairy products.

Promoted by “I Love Italian Food” association and realized in collaboration with AICNY, the main association of Italian restaurateurs in North America, the meeting wants to provide the most important professionals in the foodservice sector with concrete answers on the value of PDO products for the American market and information on how to deal with the new economic scenario. The Consortium will also illustrate the main characteristics of this unique specialty.

A DAIRY TRAVEL TO AUSTRALIA

From 18 to 24 November, the Consortium for the Protection of Asiago PDO cheese will also be present in Australia to attend a series of events promoted by the Italian Embassy in Canberra, carried out in collaboration with the most important Italian cultural institutions and protection Consortia. Australia, in fact, is the fourth exports market for Asiago PDO and the second non-European one – after the USA.

The presence of the Consortium during Italian Cuisine in the World Week has also a symbolic value, due to the negotiations that are underway for a free trade agreement between the European Union and Australia. Among others, the issue of recognition and protection of European PDOs will be discussed in this context. The programme includes the presence of Asiago PDO in numerous events. From tastings during the meetings on food safety and traceability (19 November) and on the relationship between food and design (21 November), to the official dinner with the most important institutions of the Federation (20 November) and the promotion event open to the diplomatic, economic and political world (22 November).
