Italian Food in the Spotlight at Thaifex 2019

The Italian Area within the exhibition is now in its seventh edition. The Italian Trade Agency Bangkok is strongly committed to allowing Italian exhibitors to make the most of their participation

From today to 2 June 2019 the Impact Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok will host the 16th edition of THAIFEX – World of Food Asia. The big Food&Beverage fair – organized by Kolenmesse Pte Ltd (Singapore) in collaboration with DITP-Department of International Trade Promotion and TCC-Thai Chamber of Commerce – will once again be the gateway to the ASEAN and Indochina markets: an increasingly important and strategic territory in the international trade flows.

The five days of the 2018 edition attracted over 62,000 visitors to Bangkok, an absolute record for the event, and 2,500 exhibitors from 40 countries. Organizers are certain to exceed these numbers next May. Thaifex, in fact, knows how to meet the needs of operators throughout the region. There, they can find ideas, news and opportunities from a wide international offer.

ITALIAN FOOD COMPANIES AT THAIFEX

As usual, Italy will be in the front line thanks to the strategic collaboration with Federalimentare and Fiere di Parma which began in 2013. The Italian Area is now in its seventh edition. Divided into two areas, the Fine Food and Coffee & Tea pavilions, for a total of 300 square meters, it will host 30 Italian leading companies including Amica Chips, De Matteis Agroalimentare, Ferrarini, Latteria Sorrentina, Natura Nuova SpA, Rizzoli Emanuelli, and Vergani Secondo.

Once again this year ICE (Italian Trade Agency) Bangkok is strongly committed to allowing Italian exhibitors to make the most of their participation. This is thanks to the agency officials work to involve buyers from ASEAN countries both in meetings with companies and in the networking evening organized to bring to their attention the quality, variety and taste of Made in Italy products. The focus is on large-scale distribution buyers, which is one of Thaifex’s plus points. This year there will be just under 2,200 large operators, invited specifically by the entire region for a two-day meeting with international exhibitors.

NEW THEMATIC AREAS

Some new thematic areas will make their debut, namely THAIFEX future Food Experience – dedicated to the deepening of trends and innovations in the growing segment of food service through talk shows, workshops and demonstrations – and THAIFEX Start-up pavilion that will be dedicated to new businesses, the most innovative ideas, the most promising start-ups in a universe – that of food service – that must prove to be equal to a world in continuous and fast transformation.

Altogether there will be 11 mega pavilions in which the great exhibition will be articulated. Also this year it will exceed the threshold of 100,000 square meters (107,000 in 2018). Huge spaces made ‘readable’ and exhaustive thanks to their organization in real ‘thematic salons’: Coffee & Tea, Drinks, Fine Food, Food Service, Food Technology, Frozen Food, Fruits & Vegetables, Meat, Rice, Seafood, Sweet & Confectionery.

HALAL AND ORGANIC SPECIAL SHOWS

Particularly awaited are the special shows where a growing share of consumption has been concentrated in recent years, namely the THAIFEX Halal Market and the THAIFEX Organic Market. Without forgetting the THAIFEX taste Innovation Show, organized by the Innova Market Insight, which will present exhibitors and visitors the ten most interesting trends in terms of packaging, technology and taste. A different way of looking at what global consumers tend to prefer and reward.

Once again this year there will be a special space for Innofood Asia Conference: two days of meetings, conversations and presentations that will offer an in-depth look at the relationship between technology, food and design. Without forgetting the Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge: a competition whose prize is divided in many different categories. Now in its eighth edition, it will once again bring together the best chefs from all over the world.
