Salumi Piacentini PDO: Production Is Growing

Good news for three Italian typical cold cuts: Coppa Piacentina, Pancetta Piacentina and Salame Piacentino

Good news from Salumi Piacentini PDO protection Consortium, which closed 2018 with a growing production. In first place among these typical Italian cold cuts we can find Salame Piacentino, with a total of about 550,920 kg, followed by Coppa Piacentina with 463,956 kg and finally Pancetta Piacentina with 349,751 kg. Speaking about sliced products, among the most consumed there is Coppa Piacentina with 361,814, followed by Pancetta Piacentina (289,475 kg) and Salame Piacentino (142,249 kg).

The increase compared to 2017 was therefore significant, with a total production of 598,751 kg for Salame Piacentino PDO, 692,788 kg for Coppa Piacentina PDO and 590,368 kg for Pancetta Piacentina PDO. The next goal for the Salumi Piacentini PDO’s protection Consortium will be to expand exports to Germany and France. This Consortium houses a real jewel of the Italian delicatessen production, as it is the only one which can boast three protected designation of origin products. Although relatively small, the Consortium has managed to stand out and be known for its excellent Made in Italy cold cuts.
