From Parmigiano Reggiano cheese aged over 24 months to branded extra virgin olive oil, Italian food is winning space over the years on the shelves of this chain. Costco’s 50 million household members look for value a store manager told us. In fact, Costco’s Kirkland label now includes Prosecco wine DOCG and certified Italian cheese such as Pecorino Romano aged over 9 months. Also fresh organic pasta is becoming popular with American consumers; pasta drives demand for tomato sauce imported from Italy.
