Grana Padano has won another international award and is confirmed as an Italian excellence in the production of top quality cheese. At the latest World Cheese Awards 2018 in London, Grana Padano PDO Reserve was awarded with the prestigious World Cheese Awards Bronze medal. This result confirms the constant growth of Grana Padano brand, which is a flagship of Made in Italy products worldwide. In the London competition, the Grana Padano cheese produced by San Rocco Cheese Factory (based in Tezze sul Brenta, Vicenza) was chosen among the best three out of more than 3,000 cheeses from all over the world which, divided by category, were selected by The Guild of Fine Food Ltd. In addition to Grana Padano, the company was awarded a gold medal for its PDO seasoned Asiago, a silver medal for its fresh Asiago, and a second bronze medal for its ‘Collina Veneta Stravecchio’.
The Jury
Grana Padano was awarded by a jury of over 500 world-class experts coming from different sectors of gastronomy: critics, gourmets, cooks, restaurateurs, producers, and food journalists. The award arrives at the opening of the ‘Mese del Casaro’ (the cheese-maker month), a review in progress this month where Grana Padano will be the protagonist of several events. On March 17, at FICO in Bologna – during a tasting that the Grana Padano Consortium will organize for the occasion – will arrive the PDO Reserve just awarded in London, along with 13 other cheese wheels produced in various Italian provinces.
