Hy-Vee: Italian food is key

For the big Midwestern US retailer the focus is on differentiation and products’ origin. That is why Italian food manufacturers can play an important role

We are importing directly from Italy, which is part of our strategy of innovation together with high-quality food and controlled labels said Jeremy Gosch, Hy-Vee EVP Strategy & Innovation, in this exclusive interview with at Winter Fancy Food Show 2018. Hy-Vee – an employee-owned chain of more than 245 supermarket located throughout the Midwestern US – is concentrating particularly on private label. That is where Italian food manufacturers can play a key role. In fact, Hy-Vee has recently launched its first ever “Authentic Italian” promotional campaign named “Say Ciao to Italia”, with the involvement of the Italian Trade Agency. Another accomplishment of Hy-Vee was the development and launch of a brand new “Authentic Italian” private label line of products under the brand “Gustare Vita”.
