Pedon makes healthy grains easier to cook

Pedon group, a family-owned specialist in dried legumes and grains, is investing in new technologies to help busy consumers cook quality and healthy meals in less time. The company, that also makes pasta with lentils, green peas, and chickpeas, is present in 45 countries with its own-brand products as well as private labels for some of the largest retailers. Our mission every day is to try to offer products with a very high content of convenience, Paolo Pedon told Italianfood.net at the PLMA show in Chicago, the largest trade show in North America dedicated to the private label industry. We keep working on new concepts based on grains and legumes in order to be able to offer these healthy and eco sustainable products to the majority of the population, Pedon said.

Pedon in the USA

In the United States, where the 33-year old Veneto-based company opened its subsidiary in 2008, Pedon works with some of the largest retailers. It also supplies Costco in Mexico and Canada, where it also works with the country’s largest retailer Loblaws. Pedon has developed new technologies to make grains more convenient and allow busy households to have a meal ready in minutes, the manager said. We were able to squeeze the cooking time to 10 minutes, Pedon said. There are also microwavable products that only takes 90 seconds to prepare.
