In an interview with ItalianFood.net at the Gulfood Show in Dubai, Christian Saldi, the sales director of Vicenzi USA, explained how the company plans to grow in international markets: Currently our main product is Millefoglie: it is very light and consumers appreciate it because it’s made with real butter, it has 192 layers that give the product a very nice taste. As Middle-East consumers are very familiar with tea cookies, our Millefoglie has become a very popular product in the Gulf region.

INTERNATIONAL PLANS

In the last three years, the fine Italian pastry maker is looking to expand also in two other large markets: the United States, where Vicenzi has opened a subsidiary company, China (Hong Kong, Taiwan), and other Asian markets like South Korea and Japan. Speaking about the United States – concludes Saldi – we are bringing our heritage in terms of puff pastry, highlighting with American consumers the fact that our products are light, low in calories and very delicate. We are actually unique because we have a big authority and we think we can create a special category over the next four to five years.
