Inalca Food & Beverage, a subsidiary of Inalca Spa (Cremonini Group) specialising in the distribution of Made in Italy typical food products, enters Spanish market acquiring 60% of GrupoComit shares. GrupoComit is the most important Italian food products distributor in the Canary islands. It’s been present for 23 years on the Canaries food service market and it distributes excellent Italian food products to more than 2500 customers including restaurants, hotels, resorts, supermarkets and Cash & Carry in the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Palma. Through shareholdings in some local companies, GrupoComit produces various kinds of cheese like Mozzarella distributing them in the same marketplace. In 2016, consolidated turnover reached €16 million.
TOURISM MARKET – GrupoComit has got 100 employees, 20 trucks equipped to manage the complete cold chain, 7 distribution plants (3 of which in Gran Canaria, 2 in Tenerife and one in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura) and it distributes more than 800 products (wines, cold cuts, cheeses, mineral water, pasta, preserves, confectioneries and biscuits) including some brand exclusivities of important Italian food companies. Thanks to this operation, Inalca Food & Beverage will have the possibility to expand very quickly in one of the most important world tourism’s reference market. The new acquisition is part of a development strategy in the most important tourism-oriented areas in the world. This strategy consists in distributing the increasingly sought-after Italian food & beverage, focusing on the upper-middle Ho.Re.Ca. market segment and guaranteeing regular supplies of Italian food specialities to retail chains.
