Riso Scotti has been working hard to propose Chiccolat to new markets. “Vegetable drinks represent a real alternative to cow milk abroad” explained Pedro Soro Gomar, international sales director for the Riso Scotti vegetable drinks range. “The sector is very dynamic at the moment and is showing constant growth. The most important country in Europe is Spain, but we are looking at the global market, targeting an increasing range of people who look for healthy products as a part of their diet. China is the new frontier and we have begun to sell Chiccolat vegetable drinks there after signing a contract through Ccig Mall, the biggest b2b e-commerce platform in China and direct competitor of Alibaba. These rice-based drinks are very popular in this country where 80% of the population are lactose intolerant and rice is mostly consumed as a primary food source, but it still lacks the know-how and technology needed to make the vegetable drinks.”
