Thailand, a key player in the Asean area

Ranked seventh among the Far East countries, Thailand, however, shows excellent expansion. According to Federalimentare, Italian exports will continue to grow, if the offer is enhanced
Thailand, a key player in the Asean area

In the ranking of the largest global food markets for Italian food exports, Thailand currently stands at 52th place overall and 7th place among the Far East markets. This area is preceded, by Japan, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan. In the middle of the last decade, Thailand was already ranked at 7th position but worldwide it stood at 70th place.

“It must be said –  comments Luigi Scordamaglia, president of Federalimentare – that the recent reflexivity of the Thai market, after the long run-up in previous years, contrasts with the good performance of other Asian markets. For example, according to the export decline registered in january-november 2014: Japan + 2.4%, China 6.4%, Hong Kong 7.0%, Korea + 20.2%, Singapore +16.8 %, Taiwan +24.7%, Malaysia -3.4%, Vietnam + 80.6%, Indonesia +0.4%”.

Intermittently, these numbers show that we are moving promisingly in the Far East, but success will have to be closed guarded due to the huge development of the area.
