Why Eu sanctions are no good for fresh and cured meats

The measures introduced by Moscow will cause damage in the region of 100 million euros plus per year to the Italian food and agriculture industry
Why Eu sanctions are no good for fresh and cured meats

Italy’s cured meats industry association, Assica, has expressed concerns about Putin’s orders to block a wide range of EU food imports. As far as the Italian pork industry is concerned, Assica estimates this will cost 55 million euros at what is an already critical time. Of these 55 million, potential losses for cured meats are in the region of 19 million euros and the other 36 million euros in fresh meats, which are the sector’s bread and butter exports outside the EU.

Meanwhile, Assocarni has announced that:” All of our food and agricultural exports to Russia are at risk, which are worth a combined total of approximately 600 million euros. This needs to stop before it escalates completely. The sanctions imposed against Russia are at best groundless and at worst entirely counter-productive. The EU seems to forget that it is us that need Russia and not the other way around”.
