Consumers no longer consider it a deli meat but rather an everyday food for everyone. According to research conducted by A&F Research for Raspini, inside Italian department stores, 20% of consumers choose cooked ham because it is a healthy deli product. Another 40%, on the other hand, attributed their choice to ham being suitable to the entire family, including children.
“Cooked ham – explains Andrea Allorto, ceo of Raspini Salumi – has established itself as a healthy, nutritional product with a good quality-price ratio. Characteristics that permit it to be consumed up to three times a week. In addition, buyers no longer consider it a deli product but rather an everyday food for all”.
It is precisely this trend towards healthier eating, also keeping in mind the growing perception of cooked ham as an ideal part of a balanced diet, particularly for low fat and low-salt diets, that is thought to be an important driver in its increasing consumption.
