Campari Group has inaugurated a new Aperol bottling line as part of a €75 million investment to expand its Novi Ligure plant in Italy. The group said that the bottling line, which adds 6,500 square meters to the existing 60,700-square-metre site, is the next necessary stage in the company’s international development. The leading brand in Campari Group’s global sales, demand for the Italian bitter apéritif has grown by 500% in the last decade. Aperol is the leading brand in the Campari Group’s global sales with a 24% share, quintupling its growth in the last ten years and achieving record performances, with a trend of +23.1% worldwide and +8.2% in Italy in 2023.

Novi Ligure is Campari’s largest production hub and is responsible for producing Campari, Aperol, Campari Soda, Crodino, and Cinzano, among other beverages. The new Aperol line will bring the bottling lines to seven, increasing the overall plant’s annual capacity by 100 million bottles – this has grown from 29 million in 2004 to 360 million bottles in 2023, now with a total production capacity of 460 million bottles. In 2023, 29% of Campari products sold were produced at the Novi Ligure plant.

Campari Group CEO Matteo Fantacchiotti said: “We are proud to inaugurate the new bottling line dedicated to Aperol, which will allow us to increase our production capacity even more, allowing us to keep exporting worldwide the aperitif ritual, a symbol of the Italian lifestyle, characterized by a model of responsible consumption and the highest quality”. He continued: “The expansion of the plant, which takes place 20 years after its opening, is a further confirmation of the positive growth trend of recent years.”
