The Prosciutto di Parma PDO Consortium will return to the spotlight at this year’s Summer Fancy Food Show, held at New York’s Javits Center from 29 June to 1 July. The event, widely regarded as a benchmark for the U.S. food and beverage trade, remains a key fixture for the Consortium, which will be present in the Italy Pavilion at booth 3128 with an institutional stand representing member producers.
“We have participated in several North American trade fairs since the beginning of the year, aiming to strengthen and expand the distribution of our product,” said Alessandro Utini, President of the Prosciutto di Parma PDO Consortium. “We return to the Summer Fancy Food Show at a challenging time, when our presence feels more relevant than ever.”
Trade relations between the U.S. and the EU remain fragile, with tariffs imposed during the Trump administration still partially in effect on certain European imports. “There is a general sense of uncertainty, generating instability for all operators involved,” Utini said. “Our hope is that current diplomatic and trade negotiations will help ease these tensions, which ultimately serve no one. In this climate, our presence at the show is not only an opportunity to engage with trade professionals, but also a moment to gauge sentiment in a market as strategically important as the United States.”
In 2024, exports of Prosciutto di Parma PDO generated revenues of €300 million, with around 2.54 million hams—38% of total production—shipped abroad. The United States accounted for one-third of those exports, reaching a historic high of 800,000 imported hams, valued at approximately €100 million.
