The store, spread over two floors, is the result of a collaboration with Areas, which will also introduce a Burger King restaurant and a Speckmann’s store in the revamped food court
Eataly lands at Dresden Central Station

After an intensive planning phase, the time has finally come: from 25 March 2025, the new space replacing the former food court at Dresden Central Station will welcome travelers with a high-level gastronomic experience.

A renewed food & beverage experience

There is great anticipation for the arrival of Eataly, making its debut in the German city thanks to its partnership with Areas, the brand’s first franchisee in Germany. The two-floor store aims to redefine and elevate the traditional QSR experience with a coffee lounge, a pastry shop, and the possibility to order pizza, focaccia, and pasta prepared according to original recipes. The iconic Italian retailer will become a key destination for experiencing la dolce vita in Dresden.

The culinary offer will be further enriched by Speckmann’s, a German-style restaurant developed by Areas specifically for Dresden. Here, travelers and locals will be able to enjoy authentic traditional German specialties and immerse themselves in Saxony’s rich culinary heritage. Finally, a Burger King restaurant will also be available, catering to travelers in search of a quick and convenient option. In total, 200 seats will be available, perfect for either a short break or a more relaxed pause. Additionally, a panoramic gallery will offer a unique view of the station’s vibrant activity.

The statement

Over two million euros have been invested in transforming the space, which spans more than 1,100 square meters. “Together with our partners, we have brought three concepts into a single space, combining high-quality international products, traditional specialties, and fast food. Travelers and locals alike will be delighted”, said Anne-Pierre de Cosnac, CEO of Areas. Oliver Andrade Wittki, Head of Commercial Sales for the South East Regional Division of DB Station&Service AG, is equally confident about the success of the initiative: “By partnering with Areas, we have gained an expert partner with extensive knowledge of the food & beverage sector. This will turn Dresden Central Station into a new gastronomic hotspot”.
